A multi-layered Foundation/Trust based in Kenya that is best known for rescuing and raising orphaned baby elephants. They are also very involved in protection of the wild elephants, anti-poaching initiatives, education, and reintroduction of the babies they rescue back into the wild.
(2013) Bwindi Community School, Bwindi, Uganda
A small community school in Bwindi that we were blessed to have been able to visit in 2013. Donations went to build a desk for several children, and to pay the tuition for two children for the year.
The Orangutan Appeal UK is a registered charity dedicated to the rehabilitation and preservation of Orangutans and to the conservation of their habitat.
A one day, volunteer organized and executed 400 km bicycle ride from Kelowna to Delta to raise funds for Cancer research (all funds donated directly).
This is a not for profit organization that began as a grassroots project in Edmonton, right before Christmas, in 2003. The intention was to leave care packages in areas where they would be found by those in need, particularly the homeless. This project has now spread to many other communities but still retains its original intentions. Although EDAS has focused on helping the homeless, it aspires to help everyone feel significant in some way.

A local project, the intention of which was to ensure that all kids throughout the elementary school system in Nanaimo had at least one Christmas gift tailored to them specifically. We also donated gift certificates to local grocery stores for families in need.

We’re sure this non-profit organization needs no introduction! Wikipedia is non-profit organization that is run by a relatively small group of full time employees, especially when you consider that they are the 7th most visited website on the planet as of 2016. After years of using this fantastic resource, we realized that contributing was the least we could do in helping out a cause that has provided so much value to so many people worldwide.
CPAWS is the largest private charity in Canada that is focused on preserving wilderness habitats. CPAWS receives almost no government funding but maintains a strong relationship with Parks Canada. Their vision is to protect at least 50% of Canada’s wilderness and oceans, including the Strait of Georgia waters that lie between us and the mainland of BC, and our provincial parks here on the island such as Strathcona, Cathedral Grove, and the Carmanah Walbran valley.
